Welcome to the Maori Collection
11 August 2008 - 6:10:30pm

Kia Ora, this family collection focuses on information regarding the ancestors of Te Korowhiti Tuataka, wife to Edward Douglas Landells. Her chiefly lineage goes back to many of the canoes, chiefly the Tainui (Hoturoa) and Te Awara (Tamatekapua).

Given the tapu (sacred nature) of whakapapa (genealogies) this collection is private and access must be authorised by an administator.

Over the last hundred years a lot of the traditional tribal knowledge has been lost for good and tribal knowledge transfer has changed a great deal. This collection does not seek to replace oral traditions, but seeks to encourage new generations to learn something of their ancestors, and to seek an opportunity to visit their marae and learn more in the traditional manner.

Connections to other maori members of any of the extended families can be added here.
